My Life here so Far

Friday, September 15, 2006

Well, its been slightly over a month since we've arrived, and by and large we've settled in here pretty well, other than some hiccups here and there. Our new place is pretty neat too, a block of apartments next to a major road leading to Melbourne city (10-15 min trip) yet our unit is farthest from the road in our block. Hot water supply and pressure can be a bit schizophrenic at times (as Angie has mentioned in a previous post) but its just a matter of taking it in your stride I suppose.

Next thing coming up is to purchase a car. We're still undecided on that one, currently a toss-up between a Hyundai Getz or the Honda Jazz. No doubt the Japanese model is a better car but its also about A$4000 more than the Korean. Hmmmm...decisions decisions...

To round up, the variety of bird life here is pretty amazing! Compared to the mynahs, crows, sparrows and pigeons we commonly see back home (unless you're prepared to yomp to the farthest reaches of Singapore), here in suburban Melbourne there's so much more bird life to see! Look out for photos in the coming weeks (as and when I can go bird-spotting) - DSM

To drive or not to drive?

Tuesday, September 12, 2006

Living in such a big place like Melbourne means that even going grocery shopping also need to have a car...tho' from our apartment we can walk 10 mins before reaching the train station and a small shopping area but to get things like shampoo/detergent and etc we need to drive to a supermarket...which means now i have to start driving liao..don't get me wrong i like driving and am permitted to drive here..haha guess i'm used to Singapore transport system where its more convenient to travel...now there are news that the transport system here might follow something like the EZLink back in Singapore..tap in and tap out...hmm better start keeping the tram/train tickets then.. - DSA

these past few days, our shower head has been playing a game of "hot and cold" with us...halfway through our showers, the water pressure would suddenly accelerate and hot water would be gushing out..and i meant HOT!!..ouch..luckily no burns (yet)...no fun when trying to adjust the temperature..no fun at all..-DSA

Job search

Monday, September 11, 2006

Today weather was pretty good so went down to the recruitment agencies in the city..well the agencies here work differently as compared to Singapore..here the agencies asked me to hand in or email my resume to the respective area of industry so will have to call the consultant within the end of the week or wait for their call if i'm lucky..oh well, keep fingers crossed then!
Hope the weather continues its good run..spring is coming! yay! -DSA

Starting afresh in a different place is scary but gotta keep our prayers and believe that everything will work out eventually..here are some pics of our rental place..that's the main gate and our apartment unit is the one upstairs..our car porch and also our living/dining area..well its only a 1 bedroom apartment so until our new house is ready next year there will be more pics to share (",) - DSAngie {DSA}
