I'm WAAAAYYY out of shape

Wednesday, June 27, 2007

My boss has just invited me to join him and his 3 brother-in-laws to form a 5-a-side indoor soccer team, playing in a multi-division league format. As we were a new team, we had to play a few qualifying games first, mostly to determine our standard (or lack thereof) before the organizers will put us into a division to compete. Anyway we played our first match on Monday, and while we slumped to a 9-3 defeat, there were enough positives to be taken from our collective and individual performances, and if you take away the 4 goals scored by our opponents in the first 10 minutes (we've never played together in our lives) as well as the 2 goals they scored in the last couple of minutes when we've absolutely run ourselves into the ground (we had no substitutes while our opponents had 2, and our average age was at least 1.5 times theirs), we figured we would do better next time round (next Tuesday)

But the point is, I'm currently paying the price for slacking off big-time physically. My 2 legs are currently a solid mass of muscular pain, walking is a chore, never mind running. And I'm not limping only because BOTH legs are in equal amount of pain. Once the pain wears off slightly, I'm going to start walking around the neighbourhood. At the very least I got to get better conditioned to get into the next game... :) - DSM

Shooting in the city

Monday, June 18, 2007

Got a shock when my boss told me that there was a shooting in the city. Seems so unreal as I was working in the city when me and Mike came over to Melbourne in August last year. I was temping for about 2 months in this shipping company which was located near where the shooting took place. I really feel sorry for the innocent by-stander and his family who was helping out and got shot for his heroic act, really makes you think your time on earth can be unpredictable and sudden. Still have the shivers when I think about it... - DSA

3 degrees

Thursday, June 14, 2007

Yes, you read it right..it was a chilling 3 degrees this morning when we went to work! Already waking up every weekday at 6am is not torturing enough, but we have to be bear with a rainy COLD winter this year...think this weather can wake us up without our alarm clocks if this goes on...need heaters!! :) - DSA

Encountered these 2 scenarios one Saturday a few weeks back, we were at Vic Market as usual getting our weekly supplies when I had to stop by one of the grocery stores to get carrots. There was a family of 3 in the queue before me, occupying 2 rows (obviously they can't stand in a row) and another guy standing behind the mother in the 2nd row. Myself and that guy only had a few items in our hands but the mother had a number of plastic bags of groceries that needed to be weighed and priced, worse still she ask for more groceries while I was waiting for my turn. Is it so hard to be considerate and see if other people have lesser things to pay for and let them go first?? That guy waiting behind the mother got ticked off and scolded the family....or bi good! If not for another store keeper who came to my "rescue", I would also join in.

Later in the afternoon, while scouting for car park at High Point Shopping Mall (yes, I dragged hubby to come along) and virtually "stalking" people who might be going back to their cars, this family actually beckoned us to follow them. So nice! We had been circling the car park for almost 15 minutes so it was such a nice gesture....why can't more people be like that? - DSA

Chaddy

Friday, June 01, 2007

Chadstone Shopping Centre aka "Chaddy" had a 15 hours sale on Wednesday which lasted till midnight and of coz such a event I will not miss it *heh*. We went straight to Chaddy after work since its just a 5 minutes drive away from home which was a good thing as we reached the shopping centre around 5pm so no dramas with finding parking. Alas! Walked and walked for an hour and I didn't find anything nice to buy *sianz* most of the stuff sold were mainly winter wear and I had quite a few liao, no point buying so many and the designs are almost the same with every shop. Looks like I'll wait for the June sale then coz its the end of the financial year sale *double heh* - DSA

Trying to change the look of this blog but I think I cannot make it in IT...muahaha, all those formatting and what nots just make my eyes blurry. Looks like I will have to set aside some time during weekends to spice up "the look".

Speaking of us, my friend Meilin mentioned that our blog has 2 thoughts - me with life and people here and Mike with work or political rants. I'm glad hubby is sharing this blog with me and living so far from our love ones and friends, its definitely a good way to share things here with them and update them as days go on, be it life or work.

Time past so fast, its June now and we have been here for close to 10 months. Pretty soon when December is coming, we'll be heading back for our "annual" trip home to meet up with families and friends. This time, we are definitely staying longer than the miserable 1 week in February - DSA
