Life

Monday, May 14, 2007

Mike sent me an email about this lady who died after working on a weekend 8 hours non stop on her laptop, my friend Lynn also mentioned about her recently as well. This lady was just blogging her last post about her stressful worklife in HP...Life is so fragile isn't it? Sometimes I really wonder why do we have to give ourselves so much stress just because of work? Most of the time do we really enjoy what we are doing or because of bread and butter then we succumb ourselves to endless emails, calls, lack of sleep etc and hence miss the important part of life? No matter what, health is more important than work and we all know that work is never ending so why work 12 hours everyday when you know the next day there will be more to come...I guess coming here have taught the both of us to appreciate life more and to slow down in our paces. Both Mike and myself have not done any overtime since we started working here because 1. our bosses don't give us black faces for leaving on time; 2. almost everyone in the office will leave on time; 3.work pace is slower but doesn't mean its less efficient

In Singapore its "expected" for us to do more than we can, to do overtime when there is work but in everything we do, we all have a choice.

So now its time to start living and appreciate life for what its worth - DSA
